Great to meet Salford Foundation yesterday to hear about the work they have been carrying out within the community.
I was especially pleased with the work they were doing to help victims of abuse and domestic violence, hearing firsthand accounts from women who had been supported through horrific mental and physical suffering. They had been given the support to rebuild their confidence and are now leaders within the community.
It was good to see how the community/voluntary sector makes such a difference in Salford at a time when our services are being completely slashed by central Government.
The issue remains though, despite the amazing work done on shoe string budgets, Salford public services and the community/voluntary sector needs significantly more money to deal with the health, social and community needs we have.
When communities down South get more per head in public funding than we do, something is very wrong! Our community deserves much more than we presently get from this Government.
